Malibu, CA -- U.S. News & World Report's September 3 issue just hit the stand. Literary Agent Wendy Keller pulls into the little open-air newsstand in Malibu, CA and with a cell phone to one ear, pulls the issue off the shelf. "You look great!" she exclaims. "This is incredible!"

There, splayed for public consumption on page 24, is a full-page article about Kellers latest success: Col. Randall Larsen. Larsen, director of the Institute for Homeland Security is the author of the newly released Our Own Worst Enemy. Keller represented and sold Larsen's book in the Spring of 2007 for a "news-making" advance, beams at the issue in her hands.

Larsen's work is about transforming the way Americans look at terrorism. Keller's work is about "connecting people with a powerful message with their audience." She is CEO and Senior Agent for Keller Media, Inc. in Malibu. Keller Media, Inc. is a compound of a successful literary agency and respected speakers bureau. The energetic Keller also conducts seminars in Santa Monica, teaching people how to become paid speakers and published authors.

"Publishers want authors who are also speakers, and have some media, some presence, some authority in their subject matter. And the people who hire speakers strongly prefer it when they are authors. The two go hand in hand," according to Keller, who has been behind the sale of more than 550 titles sold worldwide, including several best sellers.

Still on the phone, Col. Larsen says, "This is all thanks to you." His book deal was created, signed and closed in a multi-bidder auction less than 3 weeks after author and agent met at a cocktail party in Washington D.C. Keller demurs and laughs. "You're the star," she tells him.
